Below is a comment I posted on Janeen Ganesh’s FT column about the clash within civilizations. It is a combination of satire and sarcasm. My point is that the divide in the Democratic party over Israel and Gaza is going to ignite a larger civilizational fight and divide the Democratic party between a resurgent Reform Movement out in the states and a corrupt Special Interest Establishment in Washington DC. Donald Trump’s near total destruction of the Democratic Establishment in Washington makes the Reformers’ task easier because it will be easier to throw this generation of rascals out and replace them with Reform politicians–the necessary first step to long-lasting reform.

The inter-civilizational conflict in Palestine between Greater Israel Firsters and Palestinian Nationalists asserting long-suppressed aspirations for Muslim self-determination is about to cross the hemispheres to America and launch civil wars in both major political parties.
The Pro-Plutocracy Reality Show Huckster and his multi-billion-dollar corruption schemes from Russia-Ukraine, the Arab Gulf, and Exploitable Africa and Asia are about to run into Redneck Revenge as economic conditions accelerate their decline as billionaires consolidate their control over the monopolized US economy that the Republicans are turning into hereditary fiefdoms. One awaits the arrival of the Executive Order creating dukedoms, earldoms, and lesser fiefs and the Supreme Court solemnly affirms such powers are within the Gift of the Unitary Executive. Lord High Justice the Earl of Roberts will write the opinion.
On the Democratic side, tens of millions of Democrats will rally around the banner that Wilsonian Self Determination Begins at Home! Mass movements in the states will organize to take the party back from the pro-billionaire, pro-monopoly, pro-Israel superrich Donor Class that controls the party Establishment. Destruction of the now enfeebled Clinton-Biden-Harris party establishment will be the major goal of the 2026 political campaign. Grass roots movements will remind the public that the Democratic party was once the party of the people and that it could be again–really!
Donald Trump’s near total destruction of the Democratic Establishment in Washington is doing the Reformers’ hard work for them. Throwing the rascals out should be child’s play as the work of constructing a fit-for-purpose Reform movement gets underway with programs tailored to the needs of real people in their daily lives and not the wealth-aggrandizing needs of the superrich. Good policy comes from the people, not billionaire-funded think tanks (one of the great oxymorons of contemporary political life).
